It’s a Cardinal kinda week, astrologically speaking. Cardinal, for those who don’t know already, is a “quality,” a way of expression – a style, so to speak. The term is derived from the start of a season, and so, its means initiation, beginnings, leadership, starting, generating. With five planets in Cardinal signs - Cancer, Capricorn and Aries – it’s the sorta week where you really wanna be at the helm, navigating your own ship and calling the shots.
Everything relationship-related feels a bit stuck at the beginning of this week. As the love planet, Venus, continues to do her last laps in the emotional Cancer, she makes a harsh opposition to Saturn, the planet of limitation and rules, and all the adult things we love to hate. Collectively, we may be feeling a bit unloved and very insecure, as we all experience what seems like insurmountable obstacles in our love lives and financial world. This too shall pass, and perhaps the lesson here is to find the tender balance of taking responsibility for what we need to, and softening our attitudes. Things can’t always be easy, mushy, and romantic, as much as we’d like them to be. At some point, we have to deal with the twin demons of feeling “not enough” as well as the humdrum of love and life. This offers a chance to step up and do the right thing, as boring as it feels. Don’t worry, though! Excitement is brewing as Venus makes an electric square to Mars in Aries, inviting sudden passions, intensely passionate encounters, and possibly — but hopefully not — a problematic relationship triangle. Whether it’s between you, your sweetheart, and your family, or you and two others you have your eye on, this promises to make things interesting. Just don’t allow your passions to become destructive. Fighting and making up is sexy, but there is a line where it becomes toxic. Venus glides into fiery Leo after all this drama to take up her royal residence for a month or so. In Leo, Venus is a Queen — or King — and it’s high time the world knew it! It’ll be a time to have some fun, to let our hair (our manes, actually) down, and to invite some sparkle, glamour, and fearless self-expression into your life — maybe some luxury too!
Finally, we do have communication on our sides this week — Mercury in Virgo makes some delightful aspects to both Pluto and Saturn, lending us empowering conversations, deep talks, transformative ideas, and grounded thinking. This is a great week for important, big decisions. The cosmic gods are on our side, promising a reward for our efforts! With the Sun in Virgo speaking nicely to Uranus in Taurus, we are feeling original and daring to be our true, authentic selves. How wonderful! As Mercury shifts into compromising Libra toward the end of the week, we’re in full possession of our rational faculties and able to make well-rounded (if slow) choices that benefit everyone around us. The Full Moon in Pisces softens this strong energy and asks us what we’ve accomplished, both spiritually and in terms of good habits, over the last few months. Are we on the right track or are there more things to be released into the void? Are we really taking care of ourselves, or just escaping? Do we have to forgive and forget? These are important questions to ask ourselves as La Luna grows to fullness.
